from Blume; named after Carl Ludwig von Blume (1796-1862), who on youthful age arived at the former Netherlands Indies and soon became nominated as inspector of of vaccination and as adjunct-director of s’Lands Plantentuin at Buitenzorg now the --- In 1822 he was appointed as director of this institute a post which was abolished in 1826 for economical reasons. The same year he left for Holland where he was appointed in 1829 as director of s’Rijksherbarium (at that time at Brussel) but the next year transferred to Leyden, where it still remains. He is author of many including very important botanical publications.
